Our horses:
Our horses are experienced Andes travellers. The pure Chilenean breed is 142-147 cm tall. However, there are many crossbreeds around, mostly with Arab and English blood. Most of our own horses are crossbreeds with a usual height of over 150 cm.
Saddlery and trekking gear:
We supply you with the necessary riding gear. However, we recommend you bring along personal things such as chaps or spores. The Chilenean saddle is very comfortable and ideal for riding long distances.
We also supply the camping and trekking gear but recommend you bring your own sleeping bag. And don’t forget appropriate clothing (the days are very warm, the nights can be chilly), a sun hat, sunglasses, sufficient amounts of sun repellent, a small flashlight and a pocketknife.
Riding skills and experience:
Riding experience is required for the Andes trek, for the horseback & adventure holidays it isn’t. The atmosphere of the daily outings is relaxed, with you deciding on how long the outings will be. It’s a learning-by-doing situation, and you can rest assured that we’ll teach you all you need to know about the safe handling of the animals and the riding gear. We are located in central Chile where the summers (mid October till the end of March) are long and warm. The daytime temperatures are between 25° and 30° C. The air is pleasantly dry, inviting you to relax in the shade. The nights can cool down to about 15° C. We live in genuine huaso country (huaso = Chilenean cowboy), horses are as common here as bicycles in Holland. Beside the raising of livestock our region is also known for its excellent wine and fruit farming. Everything grows here except tropical fruits. Chile is a safe place to travel. The natives are extremely hospitable and “gringo-friendly”, especially in our region. There is hardly any tourism here, and Europeans are still welcomed as exotic rarities.
